Get Warm Weather-Ready with These Essential Skin Care Tips

It’s time to say goodbye to changeable weather and hello to long sunny, outdoor activity-filled days. While we’re all excited for this change, the transition from cooler to warmer temps can be tough on our skin. That's why it's important to start preparing now for a sun filled days that are both fun and skin-friendly. Here are some tips to help you get ready:

  1. It's time to abandon the myth that skin needs to be exfoliated: Your entire epidermis needs to remain in place to maximize its role in filtering UVA and UVB radiation. Your epidermis is only about 2 sheets of construction paper thick and is naturally designed to slough on its own. Dryness and flakiness is actually a sign of a compromised lipid barrier which can be addressed with a gentler cleansing product like Cleanse or Lift Away and appropriate moisturizers, reassessing products being used at home or perhaps there is an underlying health reason behind the dryness that can be addressed with our Recovery prebiotic oil supplement to naturally restore your natural skin hydration levels.

  2. Hydrate: Even with humid days, it’s important to continue to care with a good quality lightweight moisturizer to lock in hydration without adding dangerous preservatives and other ingredients. Hydrafirm is my current favorite.

  3. Protect: Protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays with a good sunscreen. Use a natural zinc based SPF sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. When you're indoors to protect your face from blue light from computer screens which can lead to pigmentation issues with Rescue. Always read the ingredient decks of sunscreens to avoid the addition of chemical sunscreen ingredients which can lead to issues down the road with their use. Also, did you know that the daily use of Catalyst AC-11 is as effective as sunscreen in preventing further sun damage from occurring!  Our Sun Defense Bronzing wellness Elixir is a water enhancement that significantly reduces damage related to UV exposure and enhances the protective tan you body naturally creates without blocking Vitamin D synthesis.

  4. Pamper: Treat yourself to a facial to rejuvenate and hydrate your skin before the start of spring break. A good facial can help you get your skin in top shape for the new season.

With these tips, you can be sure to have healthy, glowing skin all spring and summer long.
